4th post -- Grade this!!
Today's post will be a serious and solemn one. The following took place on the 25th of January.A brand new week, a brand new start. Although it was a Monday, the blue and boring Monday we all expect did not come, instead, we were treated to an enriching, reflective Monday. The great Mr Hamilton ascended from the heavens to our class today to conduct the CDE-TTT ( Character Development Education - Teacher's Tutorial Time) and today's theme was the ever-trustworthy RESILIENCE The first activity of the day was watching a video about the inspirational Nick Vujicic. Born without arms and legs, he had changed the prespective many people previously had of life. Nick Vujicic's witty and hilarious talk taught us to be content with our lot and to never give up when the going gets tough. One of his quotes from the video is " If I fall and try to get up a hundred times and fail a hundred times and I stop, I will never get up. But if I try again and again, I will finish strong and I will find the strength to get back up.". His inspirational quote has move many ( including me ) to tears and when the video ended, there was a resounding applause coming from the class. ![]() Our next activity was to get a strip of paper and write down our greatest weakness. On my strip of paper, I had contemplated writing down "hot-headedness" and "clumsiness" before realising my fatal flaw: lack of confidence. After collecting the strips of paper from everyone, we were to randomly draw three pieces of a paper from a bag and write down on a piece of paper and write down ways on how to correct that weakness and present it to the class. At the end of the CDE-TTT, I felt that resilience is an extremely important trait in today's world. . Without resilience, we would never improve in our lives and instead be afraid of trying things. Take Nick Vujicic, for example. Born without arms and legs, Nick's early life was fraught with difficulties and, he had to face problems like bullying and pessimism. Despite that, he had decided to accomplish something in life instead of just moping around. It was resilience that ultimately gave Nick Vujicic strength to overcome his despair , and indeed, resilience drove him to succeed and achieve the unthinkable. Likewise, people like us can achieve great success. All we need is to have a little faith and resilience. Random Fact : Someone was sleeping during the video. Guess who. |
